Dangote Refinery IPO Sparks Digital Race For Millions Of Investors

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery IPO has triggered a major scramble among Nigerian banks, stockbrokers and fintech companies seeking to attract retail investors to the N2.15 trillion share offer.

 

The public offer, which opened on September 14, 2026, is being distributed through about 55 approved electronic channels, including bank apps, fintech platforms, mobile money services and the NGX Invest platform.

 

The News Chronicle reports that the unusually broad digital network reflects Dangote’s ambition to make the offer accessible to as many as 10 million Nigerians, potentially bringing millions of new investors into the capital market.

 

The drive has pushed traditional brokers to strengthen their digital systems or partner with fintech firms with established payment, verification and customer onboarding infrastructure.

 

The offer consists of 4.1 billion new shares issued at N525 per share, with the money raised earmarked for the refinery. It will also utilize to grow its processing capacity from around 700,000 barrels per day to a million and 400,000 barrels per day.

 

The IPO is expected to conclude its offering on October 13, 2026. In addition to the benefits expected to accrue from the initial public offering, the offering is also anticipated to expand Nigeria’s retail investor base while changing the distribution paradigm of future public issues.
