By signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to solidify their partnership furthermore, the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS) and the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) in the UK have strengthened their already-existing working relationship.

The organizations stated that the synergy will strengthen cooperation in certification, Continuing Professional Development (CPD), Membership drive, integrity, and sharing of the advantages of numerous learning opportunities and networking at the signing ceremony between the institutes in the United Kingdom last week.

Before the Memorandum of Understanding was signed, CIS President Oluwole Adeosun gave the management of CISI a briefing on the historical background that resulted in the Institute’s charter status as well as the current initiatives to broaden the Institute’s operations by the Act of Parliament. He observed that there were many similarities between CIS and CISI, characterizing their relationship as ‘symbiotic.'”

“We are overjoyed to commemorate this important milestone in the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers’ (CIS) long history. We have formally extended our cooperation with the Chartered Institute for Securities Investment (CISI) UK, our key partner.”

“Both professional groups have continued to gain from the collaboration. Adeosun declared upon the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding that its goals are to advance capacity building, expand membership, and create seamless learning opportunities for the members of the two main professional institutions.”

Tracy Vegro, the Chief Executive Officer of CISI, also expressed gratitude for the two
professional associations’ ongoing cooperation. According to Vegro, Nigeria is one of the
largest marketplaces for luring young people interested in pursuing careers in fields related
to investments.

“We are thrilled to be expanding our already fruitful collaboration even further. Ensuring that
members adhere to professional standards is our responsibility as professional bodies. This
is one method that the market can function effectively. We are happy to revise our
collaboration agreement to distribute the advantages of our numerous international networks
and global learning. The youthful population of Nigeria exhibits an unparalleled desire to
acquire knowledge and advance their educational credentials.”

Remember that in 2019, the CIS and the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment
(CISI), located in the United Kingdom, expanded the parameters of their Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) to promote higher ethical and professional standards worldwide.
Stockbrokers who meet certain qualifications, including participating in the worldwide
organization’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and membership, can become
members of CISI with the synergy.

This is on top of the CPD and membership criteria set by CIS. Members of CIS Nigeria will
also have access to the seven CISI professional qualifications, all of which will be tested in
Lagos via computer-based testing (CBT).
