Carter Efe Beats Portable in Lagos, Wins Celebrity Boxing Title as Singer Cries Foul

A celebrity boxing match between Carter Efe and Portable ended in a unanimous decision victory for Efe on Friday, May 1, 2026, at the Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The bout, part of the Chaos in the Ring 4 event, followed weeks of public exchanges between both entertainers. Portable entered the contest as the defending celebrity boxing champion, having recorded previous wins over Charles Okocha and Speed Darlington.

Before the fight, Portable had expressed confidence in extending his record. “I will use you to collect my third belt. Charles Okocha was bigger than you, Speed Darlington was bigger than you and I beat them. I will beat you now,” he said. Efe responded, “One punch and you fall.”

The three-round contest saw different styles. Portable began aggressively in the opening round, throwing wide punches and attempting to close distance. Efe, however, maintained composure, using his height and reach advantage to keep space and respond with measured counters.

In the second and third rounds, Efe’s approach remained consistent. He landed cleaner combinations and controlled the pace, while Portable continued to swing and clinch but struggled to register clear scoring punches.

At the end of the fight, all three judges returned identical scorecards of 27–30 in favour of Efe, awarding him victory by unanimous decision and ending Portable’s unbeaten run in celebrity boxing.

Following the result, Lagos businessman E-Money confirmed he would fulfil his pledge of ₦50 million to the winner. Speaking after the bout, he said, “You know we put our money where our mouth is, and so congratulations Carter on your win. ₦50 million for you.”

Ezekiel Adamu, Chief Executive Officer of Balmoral Group Promotions, described the event as meeting expectations. “We promised Chaos in the Ring and we have delivered very entertaining fights tonight. There is more coming,” he said.

Portable later disputed the outcome during a live video on his Instagram page on Saturday morning, May 2, 2026. He alleged that the officiating did not show his performance. “I was robbed. Carter Efe was not professional enough. He was strangling with his long hands and height. I threw him many punches, why didn’t you people count them?” he said.

He also criticised the judging criteria, arguing that his strikes were overlooked. “Any blow that I threw to him ought to count even if it meets him on the shoulder or hand,” he added, while calling on organisers to release what he described as ₦200 million in streaming revenue.

Despite his objections, Portable said the loss did not outweigh recent personal developments. “You can only buy a belt with money, but a child cannot be bought. My wife just gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. I value that more than a belt,” he said.

Carter Efe is now the reigning champion of the Nigerian celebrity boxing championship.
