Carlo Ancelotti defends Jude Bellingham’s controversial statement

Carlo Ancelotti stood by Jude Bellingham’s controversial statement, defending him against the red card he received during Real Madrid’s 2-2 draw with Valencia.

Ancelotti clarified that Bellingham’s comment, “It’s a fucking goal,” was born out of frustration rather than insult. He pointed out that the referee’s decision was questionable since play had continued after the Valencia goalkeeper cleared the ball, allowing Real Madrid to retain possession. Ancelotti emphasized the need for the team to remain composed despite the disappointment and focus on their upcoming match.

“There’s not much to say. Something unprecedented has happened, and it’s never happened to me before, After the rebound we had possession. It’s never happened to me before, and there’s nothing more to add. We were annoyed by Bellingham’s red card because he didn’t say anything insulting. It was frustration. He said: “It’s a fucking goal” and that’s the truth. Had the referee blown the whistle when the Valencia keeper cleared the ball, it would have been right, but he allowed play to continue and we had possession. I think he has made a mistake.”

“We are upset and angry. It’s normal, but we have to get back to normal because we have an important game on Wednesday. In the game, there were good things and things we had to improve upon. We have to cool down a bit because the team is still seeing. To cool down, you have to look at the table. We can still sleep well tonight.”

He also expressed confidence in Bellingham’s innocence and indicated that they would await the referee’s official report.

“The player was clear in what he said. He indeed came on vehemently after the goal, and that’s normal. It was not an insult at all. Let’s see what the referee writes in the official report.”

Vinícius Jr who made his 250 caps for the Los Blancos scored Madrid’s goals to rescue a point for his team.

Despite the setback, Real Madrid maintains a seven-point lead over second-place Girona in the league standings.
