Nigerian singer Burna Boy has reportedly passed four billion cumulative views on YouTube. The milestone makes him the first Nigerian and the first Sub-Saharan African artist to reach that number on the platform.
This is not Burna Boy’s first YouTube record. In 2021, he became the first Nigerian artist to pass one billion total views on the platform. He built on that mark over five years to reach the new four billion figure.
Part of the recent growth traces to “Dai Dai,” his collaboration with Colombian singer Shakira. The song serves as the official anthem for the FIFA World Cup 2026 and has performed strongly on multiple charts. According to Billboard, “Dai Dai” reached No. 1 on the Rhythmic Airplay chart dated September 5, 2026. The chart tracks the most-played songs on rhythm radio stations in the United States, based on data from Luminate covering the week of August 21 to August 27, 2026.
The No. 1 position marks Shakira’s first-ever Rhythmic Airplay chart-topper across 12 entries on that chart. Her previous best showing was a No. 5 peak in 2006 for “Hips Don’t Lie,” featuring Wyclef Jean. For Burna Boy, the achievement counts as his second Rhythmic Airplay No. 1 and his first as a lead artist. His earlier chart-topper came as a featured artist on Gunna’s song “wgft,” which topped the charts for 4 weeks in January 2026.

“Dai Dai” has also held the top position on the Billboard Global 200 chart for seven consecutive weeks and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart for ten weeks, as of early September 2026.
Burna Boy and Shakira performed the song together at the World Cup Final halftime show on July 19, 2026, at New York New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Spain played Argentina in that match.
