BREAKING: Widespread protests in Plateau as women set fire to residence of traditional leader

A group of women took to the streets in protest of the recent spate of killings in Plateau State.

The focal point of their discontent was the residence of Michal Monday Adanchi, the District Head of Bokkos town in Bokkos Local Government Area.

The incident transpired at approximately 12:30 pm on Friday, January 5, as disclosed by an anonymous source.

According to the undisclosed informant, the women’s actions were triggered by the apprehension of some community members, who were suspected of being involved in the recent wave of killings in the area.

In response to these arrests, the women decided to take matters into their own hands, resulting in the burning down of the traditional ruler’s residence and administrative office.

The source provided additional insight into the unfolding events, indicating that the initial spark occurred at a local police station.

It was there that the women, fueled by anger over the community members’ arrests, voiced their grievances.

Subsequently, they redirected their protest towards the residence of the District Head, asserting that he was perceived as a traitor.

Upon reaching the traditional ruler’s house, the situation escalated, culminating in the deliberate setting ablaze of the premises.

This sequence of events unfolded within a few minutes, marking a drastic turn in the expression of the community’s frustration.
