President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Mr. Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite.
The development was disclosed in a State House press release signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, and made available to The News Chronicle on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the President has transmitted Oyedele’s nomination to the Senate for confirmation in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
As part of the cabinet reshuffle, Uzoka-Anite has been redeployed to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State, marking her third portfolio in the current administration.
Until his nomination, Oyedele, an indigene of Ikaram in Akoko, Ondo State, served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he led efforts to overhaul Nigeria’s tax system as part of broader fiscal reforms.
The 50-year-old economist, accountant, and public policy expert holds a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. He has also completed executive education programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.
