President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sent a new list of non-career ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for approval.
The nominees include the former Sole Administrator of Rivers State and ex-Chief of Naval Staff, Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas; former presidential aide, Ita Enang; former Imo First Lady, Chioma Ohakim; and former Minister of Interior and ex-Chief of Army Staff, Abdulrahman Dambazau.
The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, announced the nominations on Thursday during plenary after reading the president’s letter.
In the letter, Tinubu asked the Senate to quickly screen and confirm the nominees to enable the government fill important diplomatic roles.
Akpabio then referred the list to the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, directing them to screen the nominees and report back within one week.
