BREAKING: Tinubu Cancels G20 Trip Over Kebbi Kidnap, Kwara Massacre

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has postponed his planned trips to South Africa and Angola as he monitors the unfolding security crises in Kebbi and Kwara States.

A statement from the presidency made available to The News Chronicle noted that the decision follows the abduction of 24 schoolgirls in Kebbi and Monday’s attack on worshippers at Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State.

Tinubu has directed the deployment of additional security forces to Eruku and the wider Ekiti Local Government Area and ordered police to pursue the attackers.

“President Tinubu, originally scheduled to leave Abuja today for the 20th G20 Summit in South Africa and the 7th AU-EU Summit in Luanda, has suspended his departure in light of these grave security breaches,” the statement read.

The president is now awaiting detailed reports from Vice President Kashim Shettima who visited Kebbi on his behalf alongside updates from the police and Department of State Services on the Kwara attack.

Tinubu reaffirmed his directive to security agencies to spare no effort in rescuing the kidnapped schoolgirls and ensuring their safe return.
