BREAKING: Players of Zimbabwe National Team take drastic action due to unpaid wages ahead of clash with Nigeria

Zimbabwe unpaid wages

Zimbabwe players have reportedly not shown up for training amidst a payment dispute with their football association.

In an issue that is sadly too common for African national teams, there is an ongoing payment dispute between the players and the FA of Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe’s preparations for Sunday’s World Cup qualifier against Nigeria are in shambles, after players refused to train this afternoon demanding outstanding bonuses.

As a result, the players have failed to turn up for their organised training session as a protest against the powers that be less than four days before Zimbabwe play the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The country’s soccer governing body has a very bad reputation of failing to pay players and coupled with a shambolic administration.

The national team coach Brito had to wait for an hour in a bus but the players didn’t budge. It still remains to be seen if The Warriors as they are fondly called will resume to full training before the game against Nigeria.
