The Rivers State House Of Assembly is currently involved in a series of crisis. The House had earlier today, Monday, 0ctober 30, 2023 removed its leader, Edison Ehie for purportedly supervising the burning of the Assembly Complex on Sunday night.
Although it was unclear whether the fire was related to the political controversy, there had long been rumors of a schism between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who is currently the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Reports coming in also state that 23 Out Of 32 Lawmakers Of The Assembly Loyal To FCT Minister Nyesom Wike including the speaker signed a notice of impeachment on the Rivers state governor, Simi Fubara.
As soon as his proposed impeachment was announced, supporters of the governors staged a protest outside the Complex.
The governor himself has also stormed the assembly complex.
