Former Director of Defence Information, Major General Rabe Abubakar (retd.), and his wife have reportedly been abducted by suspected bandits along the Matazu axis of Katsina State.
The incident occurred on Saturday while they were travelling through Matazu Local Government Area. The attackers allegedly opened fire during the operation, injuring the driver who later escaped.
The vehicle used by the retired officer was later recovered and taken to a police station in the area.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the incident as investigations are expected to begin.
