The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, August 25, 2026, a public holiday to commemorate Eid-ul-Mawlid, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad.

The declaration means workers across the country will observe the public holiday as Muslims mark the religious occasion.

The Federal Government urged Nigerians to use the occasion to reflect on the values of compassion, peace, unity and mutual respect, while encouraging citizens to continue promoting harmony and peaceful coexistence.

The Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration is observed annually by Muslims to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad and reflect on his teachings and exemplary life.
