BREAKING: Ex‐Senate President David Mark Dumps PDP, Joins Opposition Coalition

Former Senate President David Mark has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ending his decades-long membership and signaling a major political shift.

In a letter dated June 27, Mark cited deepening leadership crises and irreconcilable differences within the party, saying the PDP has become a “shadow of its former self.”

Mark’s exit follows his emergence as a key interim leader of the coalition-backed African Democratic Congress (ADC), part of a new opposition movement.

“I remained committed even after our 2015 loss, but recent events have made continued membership untenable,” he wrote in his resignation to PDP leaders in Otukpo Ward 1, Benue State.

The ex-Senate president said the decision came after broad consultations with family and allies and reflects his commitment to “rescue Nigeria and defend democracy.”
