BREAKING: El-Rufai Gets ₦100m Bail as Court Sets Stringent Conditions

A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, in the sum of ₦100 million, with one surety in like amount, over allegations linked to a breach of national security.

Delivering the ruling on Monday, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik imposed what she described as strict and far-reaching conditions before the bail can take full effect.

The court directed that the surety—who must be a Grade Level 17 civil servant—must reside in either Maitama or Asokoro in Abuja, and provide the original Certificate of Occupancy of a landed property to be deposited with the court registry. The surety is also required to submit verifiable proof of three months’ salary, duly certified by a bank manager.

In addition, El-Rufai was ordered to surrender all valid international passports, present a letter of attestation from the Chairman of the Kaduna Traditional Council, and report monthly to the headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS) on the last Friday of every month to sign an attendance register, The News Chronicle, gathered.

Justice Abdulmalik warned that any breach of these conditions would lead to the immediate revocation of the bail.
