Report has it that operatives suspected to be personnel of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC have stormed the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State on a midnight operation.

 

It was reported that the Students’ lodges were reportedly invaded at about 2am on Wednesday by men of the Anti-graft agency.

 

In a several videos circulating on social media where broken window frames, from what was said to be an attempt at forced entry, some students of the institution took to social media, alleging that the men broke into rooms and arrested some students.

 

“I thought they said EFCC should not raid at nights again. This hostel (Celebrity Lodge, FUTA ) is right behind mine. When will this endemic end? EFCC (officials) moving like thieves at night!” social media user identified J Brandy wrote.

 

Meanwhile, a man putting on the EFFC jacket was seen in one of the videos circulating online.

 

 

Recalled that the Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, had in November ordered that sting operations at night should be stopped.

 

Olukoyede gave this directive after the arrest of suspected internet fraudsters in Ile-Ife, Osun State, by operatives of the EFCC which generated raging condemnation nationwide.

 

Meantime, when contacted by newsmen to comment on the incident earlier, the agency’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, said he needed 20 minutes to respond on the incident. However, as of press time, Oyewale hasn’t taken his calls after the expiration of the said minutes.
