BREAKING: Edo Assembly Speaker Agbebaku Resigns Amid Impeachment Plot

Blessing Agbebaku has resigned as Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly amid moves by some lawmakers to remove him from office.

His media aide, Ivy Ebojele, confirmed the resignation on Monday, August 17, saying the Speaker chose to step down rather than face a formal impeachment process.

According to reports, a bloc of lawmakers had begun making moves to impeach Agbebaku, although details of the allegations or the number of lawmakers involved have not been disclosed.

Ebojele said the circumstances surrounding Agbebaku’s resignation would be made public at a later time.
