Borno police nab fake herbalist for sexually assaulting minors in pretence

The Borno State Police Command has apprehended a man named Isiyaku Adamu, who posed as a herbalist and allegedly sexually assaulted two minors, aged 13 and 14, by deceiving them into thinking he was casting out evil spirits. 

The police spokesperson, ASP Nahum Daso Kenneth, shared the information in a statement on January 19, 2024.

According to the statement, on December 25, 2023, the police received a report of rape at Monguno Police Division.

The report revealed that Isiyaku Adamu, 23, pretending to be a herbalist, manipulated two young girls into their room and sexually assaulted them under the false pretense of dispelling evil spirits.

The police are currently investigating the case, and Adamu will face prosecution.

In another incident on January 16, 2024, the Police Rapid Response Squad (RRS) thwarted a robbery attempt by pursuing a group suspected of snatching a Tecno T9 Handset from a man named Alhaji Mohammed.

The suspects, believed to be Malians, abandoned their tricycle during the chase, and the police recovered both the tricycle and the stolen handset. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the culprits.

The police also arrested four individuals involved in the theft of a tricycle in the Baga road area of Maiduguri.

Acting on a tip-off, Lamisula Division apprehended five suspects who conspired to steal a tricycle with registration number BG 6638 and plate number JRE 852 WG. The tricycle was recovered, and efforts are underway to capture the remaining two suspects.

Additionally, on January 15, 2024, Isyaku Alhaji Ibrahim reported the theft of his Honda discussion vehicle with registration number KWA 656 AE, Golden Colour, parked at Pompomari housing estate in Maiduguri.

The investigation led to the arrest of five suspects, aged between 13 and 17, from Federal Low Cost. The stolen vehicle was recovered, and the case will be taken to court.
