The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Borno State Command, and Kashim Ibrahim University (KIU) have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening institutional collaboration following a courtesy visit by the State Comptroller of the Service, Umar Ahmed Kibiya, to the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Babagana Gutti.
The meeting, held at the University’s Senate Building, aimed to strengthen the existing partnership between the two institutions and explore areas of mutual interest for enhanced cooperation.
Speaking during the visit, Comptroller Kibiya said he visited the university to formally introduce himself following his assumption of duty as the Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Borno State Command.
He expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor and the university management for their continued support to the Immigration Service, particularly at the Muhammadu Buhari International Airport in Maiduguri.

Kibiya disclosed that his predecessor had briefed him on the cordial and productive relationship between the university and the Immigration Service, describing it as one worth sustaining.
He assured the university management of his commitment to building on the existing partnership and consolidating the achievements recorded for the benefit of both institutions and the people of Borno State.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babagana Gutti, welcomed the Comptroller and his delegation, congratulating him on his appointment and wishing him a successful tenure.
Professor Gutti reaffirmed the university’s readiness to continue working closely with the Nigeria Immigration Service in advancing national development and institutional growth.
He noted that the university’s support to the Immigration Service at the Muhammadu Buhari International Airport reflects its commitment to assisting government institutions in delivering their mandates.
According to him, supporting public institutions is a shared responsibility that contributes to national development, adding that Kashim Ibrahim University will continue to provide assistance wherever necessary in the interest of Borno State and Nigeria.
The visit ended with both parties reaffirming their commitment to strengthening their long-standing relationship, with a shared focus on promoting institutional cooperation, capacity building, and initiatives that will support the socio-economic development of Borno State and the country at large.
