OYO: Three Admit Terrorism Charges Over Oyo Schoolchildren Kidnap

Three men arraigned over their alleged involvement in the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State on Thursday pleaded guilty to terrorism-related charges before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The defendants — Abdulrazak Umar (also known as Abu Khalifa/Abu Khalid), Yunusa Musa (also known as Yunusa bin Musa) and Shamsu Adamu Sani (also known as Abu Itisar) — admitted guilt to counts four and six of the 10-count charge filed against them.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the trio, arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS), are all natives of Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State.

The case is before Justice Salim Ibrahim of the Federal High Court, Abuja. While all three defendants pleaded guilty to counts four and six, Umar, the first defendant, also admitted guilt to counts seven, eight, nine and 10, which were filed solely against him.

According to count four, the defendants allegedly concealed information between January and May in Suleja LGA about the whereabouts and activities of suspected terrorists — Muhammad Sani, Jibril Mohammed and Ibrahim Khabab — accused of masterminding the kidnapping of schoolchildren and teachers in Orire LGA of Oyo State, instead of reporting the information to the appropriate security agencies.
