Boko Haram suspect apprehended in Abuja estate following series of kidnappings

Army Claims Responsibility For Bombing Dozens in Kaduna

Security authorities have apprehended an individual suspected to be associated with the Boko Haram group in the vicinity of Kuchibuyi, located in the Kubwa area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

According to a reliable security source, the detainee, who reportedly confessed to fleeing from the Sambisa Forest, was discovered in the Kuchibuyi estate.

The individual had been wandering in the area, and local vigilantes detained him by chaining his hands and legs before delivering him to the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja.

There are suspicions of collaboration with security personnel, as earlier incidents involved the disappearance of AK-47 rifles and cartridges used by estate security guards. The suspect is currently undergoing interrogation.

Residents of Grow Homes Estate, along Kuchibiyi, have been facing constant threats from kidnappers believed to be associated with terrorists.

A recent release of a captive, who paid a N30 million ransom, ended tragically when the individual succumbed to the trauma upon returning home.

This is not the first instance of security concerns in the area. On October 28, it was reported that at least three residents of Grow Homes Estate were kidnapped, with the perpetrators escaping through a bush track linking the community to another village.

The attackers, numbering over 20, shot into the air to instill fear among the residents during the incident, which occurred around 9 pm.

The security situation in the estate has been precarious, with an earlier attack in March resulting in the abduction of at least nine individuals from separate apartments.

In this recent incident, the kidnappers demonstrated sophistication by disconnecting the alert systems of the targeted houses before abducting their victims.

These occurrences highlight the ongoing security challenges faced by residents of Grow Homes Estate, necessitating continued vigilance and collaborative efforts between local vigilantes, security forces, and the community to address the threats posed by criminal elements, including those potentially linked to Boko Haram.
