Nigerian media personality Blessing Nkiru Okoro, widely known as Blessing CEO, has reporty lost her second son, Bryann, while in police custody.
The report, first shared on social media on Friday, have drawn public sympathy. However, she remains in custody over an alleged property fraud case worth N69.15 million. A Lagos court granted her bail of N20 million in July 2026, but she has yet to meet the conditions required for her release.
An audio clip attributed to Blessing circulated online, in which she described the pain of losing her son while detained. In the clip, she said, “My second son, Bryann, was so full of life.” She added that she had not yet been able to attend his burial.
Bryann allegedly died from an asthma attack. However, there has been no substantial medical source or official confirmation of the cause of death.
Following the news of his death, a representative of a group called Isaamira Foodbank, identified only as Isa, appeared in a video appealing to Nigerians for financial support on Okoro’s behalf. The organisation said Okoro needed a total of N56 million: N20 million to satisfy her bail conditions and N36 million reportedly owed to individuals involved in the fraud case against her. Isa asked the public to remember that, whatever her legal troubles, Blessing remains a mother grieving a real loss.
But she rejected the campaign. Speaking by phone to entertainment reporter Doris Ogala, she said, “I didn’t give anyone consent to solicit funds on my behalf.” She insisted she was the only person entitled to announce her son’s death.
Reaction on social media has been divided. Many users expressed sympathy for Okoro as a mother. Others have questioned the timing and details of the story, pointing to an earlier claim she made this year of having stage 4 breast cancer, a claim that was never independently verified.
Blessing CEO has not issued a full public statement beyond her comments to Doris Ogala.
