Bitcoin Drops Below 65,000 Dollars as US Tariff Tensions Shake Global Crypto Market

—

Bitcoin slipped sharply in early Asian trading on Monday, retreating toward 64,000 dollars as fresh uncertainty around United States trade policy unsettled investors across global markets.

According to Bloomberg, the world’s largest cryptocurrency fell nearly five percent to about 64,300 dollars, its weakest level since early February. Ether also declined by more than 5% as selling pressure spread across the broader digital asset space.

Market analysts say crypto assets remain exposed to shifting macroeconomic signals. Traders are closely monitoring the 60,000 dollar mark, with derivatives data from Deribit showing increased demand for downside protection at that level. Data from CoinGecko indicates the overall crypto market shed roughly 100 billion dollars in value within 24 hours.

The latest slide follows renewed confusion in Washington after the Supreme Court of the United States invalidated emergency tariff powers previously invoked by Donald Trump. Trump later signalled plans to raise a global tariff rate to 15 percent, deepening investor anxiety and weighing on risk assets.

The News Chronicle understands that, beyond tariff concerns, Bitcoin is also grappling with fading post-election momentum and the absence of a strong narrative to drive fresh inflows.

The broader crypto market has now erased trillions in value from its late 2024 peak, while U.S.-listed spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds continue to record sustained outflows.
