Benue police raid gun factory, make arrests

The police in Benue State found a place where people were making guns in Kwande Local Government Area. They caught some people who were making guns. 

The police commissioner, Emmanuel Adesina, told reporters about this on Wednesday in Makurdi.

He said on February 7, 2024, they arrested a man named Precious Ebuka Chukwu from Onitsa, Anambra State, in Agu, Vandeikya. When they searched him, they found three homemade guns.

They also arrested his suppliers, Tyav Wuese and Tyav Terkuma, who are blacksmiths in Adikpo, Kwande Local Government Area.

The commissioner also said on February 21, 2024, a man named George Aondosoo Ayua was kidnapped in Makurdi.

The kidnappers asked for six million naira as ransom. But the police sent a team to rescue him.

They found him in a village called Abua, and they arrested two suspects, Ayua Moses and Azua Samson.

Another incident happened where armed bandits kidnapped someone named Aornen Kpor on Tse-Kperse, Naindo-Zaki-Biam road.

They later found his body buried in a shallow grave. Two suspects, Vanen Mnyim and Adera Terseer, were arrested.

The commissioner also talked about a gang arrested on Makurdi-Naka road. They confessed to robbing and killing a female youth corps member named Irene Chioma Emmanuel. The police recovered a knife and live ammunition from them.

During a patrol in Adoka, the police intercepted two people, Echoche and Inalegwu Anebi, who were suspected of planning to ambush commuters. They found guns and ATM cards with them.

The commissioner said they’ve been working hard to improve the police force. He asked the people to help by giving information to prevent crime.
