Bauchi Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, has shared plans to appoint assistants from both Christian and Muslim religious groups within the state.

This announcement came during a meeting with Chief Imams from various Juma’at Mosques in Bauchi Metropolis.

Governor Bala Mohammed aims for these appointments to reinforce the government’s dedication to societal reorientation.

He expressed dissatisfaction with the State Hisbah Commission’s handling of increasing immorality affecting youth and children, pledging to revamp the Board for more effective action.

The Governor, while noting concerns about certain clerics potentially causing public disorder through their preaching, urged religious leaders to propagate the true teachings of their faith, free from hate speech or divisive elements.

Expressing appreciation for continuous prayers and support, Governor Bala Mohammed assured ongoing collaboration with religious leaders to achieve shared goals.

He emphasized the government’s commitment to not impose doctrines against religion or the common good.

Governor Bala Mohammed tasked the State Commissioner of Religious Affairs and Community Relations, along with the SSG, to work with religious groups to formulate an acceptable list for the appointments.

The State Commissioner of Religious Affairs, Alhaji Yakubu Ibrahim Hamza, representing the delegation, visited the Government House to congratulate the Governor on his recent Supreme Court victory.

He praised the move to reposition the Hisbah Board as a positive step and affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the Governor in addressing deviant behaviors.

The Governor’s plans involve inclusive appointments from diverse religious groups, addressing concerns about moral decay, ensuring responsible preaching, and fostering continued collaboration with religious leaders for the betterment of Bauchi State.
