Armed bandits have opened fire on passengers around Dogon Karfe on the Gusau – Talata Mafara highway in Zamfara State.
According to Bello Saleh, a resident of Maru town, a community close to the scene of the attack, the terrorists also kidnapped many other passengers during the raid.
He said that the terrorists were manning both sides of the highway and once the first vehicle arrived, they opened fire from both sides of the road adding that about seven vehicles were involved in the attack which happened around 7:00 p.m on Saturday, December 16, 2023.
Saleh revealed that most of the passengers were abducted while those left behind at the scene of the attack sustained severe degrees of injuries.
He stated further; “The wounded passengers were abandoned by the terrorists and they took away those that could walk. One of the wounded passengers we helped to convey to the hospital on my motorcycle continued shouting that his wife and child were abducted. We’ve taken at least seven people to the general hospital (Maru),”
As at press time, no life was reportedly lost in the attack as the number of those abducted has also not been confirmed.
