Armed bandits have reportedly kidnapped seven students of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, in Zamfara State after attacking a student hostel on Tuesday night.
According to reports obtained by The News Chronicle via WhatsApp, the assailants stormed the hostel located in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area and forcefully whisked away the students to an unknown destination.
Residents said the attackers invaded the area under the cover of darkness, causing panic among students and members of the community. The exact circumstances surrounding the abduction were still unclear as of the time of filing this report.
Security operatives have reportedly been alerted and efforts are said to be underway to track down the kidnappers and rescue the victims.
Authorities of the institution have yet to issue an official statement on the incident, while concerned parents and relatives have expressed fears over the safety of the abducted students.
The latest abduction highlights the persistent security challenges facing parts of Zamfara State, where armed banditry and kidnapping for ransom remain major concerns.
