Bandits kill pastor, abduct his wife in Kaduna State

—

In a tragic incident that unfolded in the quiet community of Damakasuwa, situated in the Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Reverend Amako Maraya, the pastor in charge of the second Evangelical Church Winning All, fell victim to suspected bandits.

The assailants, under the cover of darkness, mercilessly gunned down Reverend Maraya, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

This dreadful event, which occurred around 11 p.m. on a fateful Friday, also saw the abduction of the pastor’s wife by the heartless gunmen.

The depth of the tragedy was further underscored by the revelation that these criminals had targeted the pastor’s family previously, attempting to kidnap his son just three months prior.

Fortunately, during the previous attempt, the community rallied together to thwart the abductors, albeit at the cost of the son sustaining injuries.

In a grim turn of events, the gunmen returned to the pastor’s residence, culminating in a tragic outcome as they callously took Reverend Amako Maraya’s life and kidnapped his wife.

The gravity of the situation was compounded by an ominous morning call from the assailants, who brazenly demanded a staggering N3 million ransom from the grieving family.

As the community grapples with the shock and grief, there looms an unsettling tension, magnified by the uncertainty surrounding the abducted wife’s fate.

Ishaku Chinge, a resident and elder in the church, somberly confirmed the harrowing details of the incident, pleading for intervention from security agencies and the government.

He recounted “the previous resilience of the community in repelling the bandits during the earlier attempt on the pastor’s son. However, this time, the tragic outcome has left the community in anguish, and Chinge earnestly implored authorities to step in and aid in the swift rescue of the traumatized widow.”

As Damakasuwa grapples with this dark chapter in its history, the plea for assistance echoes not only through the words of Mr. Ishaku Chinge but resonates as a collective cry for justice and security in the face of escalating threats posed by these heartless criminals.

The residents residing in various communities have fervently appealed to the government, imploring them to allocate additional resources towards bolstering security measures within the state.

The paramount concern of these residents centers around the imperative need for an increased presence of security agencies, whose primary mandate would be to safeguard both lives and properties within the region.

This impassioned plea stems from a collective desire to fortify the overall safety and well-being of the populace, underscoring the gravity of the situation and the pivotal role that heightened security measures play in fostering a secure and stable environment for all residents.
