Plateau: Appeal Court Sets Sunday to Deliver Judgment

Tribunal Affirms Caleb Mutfwang

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has set Sunday the 19th of November, 2023 to deliver judgement on an appeal filed by Dr Nentawe Yiltwada Goshwe of the All Progressive Congress against Governor Mutfwang Caleb Manasseh of the People’s Democratic Party.

Dr Nentawe Yiltwada Goshwe is challenging the judgement delivered by the Governorship Elections Petition Tribunal (GEPT) which dismissed his petition for lacking in merit thereby declaring Mutfwang Caleb Manasseh of the PDP, lawfully elected Governor of the state.

Meanwhile, on his social media handle, the Plateau state Governor Mutfwang Caleb had earlier warned rumor mongers of allegations of bribes being given to nullify his mandate in court.

“I wish to strongly condemn the baseless and defamatory allegations circulated by certain individuals, accusing judges of receiving a $5 million bribe for the nullification of my victory.

I have demanded for thorough investigations by security agencies to identify and apprehend those responsible for the libelious publication.

There is a need to ensure that that these individuals face the full consequences of the law with a view to setting a precedent that discourages similar misconduct”.

The appeal judgment slated for 12pm would decide the future of the legal battle between the two political actors in Plateau.
