Armed bandits have reportedly imposed a N10 million levy on eight communities in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, raising fresh concerns over the security situation in the region.
A resident of Kuyello community, who requested anonymity for security reasons, said the bandits attacked the area just two days ago before demanding the payment from the affected communities.
According to the resident, fear has gripped locals as they struggle to cope with repeated attacks and the latest financial demand imposed by the criminals.
The development has renewed concerns over the worsening insecurity in Birnin Gwari, where communities continue to face attacks, kidnappings, and extortion by armed groups.
