Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued abducted persons after swiftly responding to a terrorist attack along the Anka–Gadan Manya Road in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The News Chronicle reports that the incident occurred on September 4, 2026, when troops conducting a routine patrol spotted armed bandits attacking two persons travelling on a motorcycle.
According to a statement by the Nigerian Army, the troops immediately mobilised and raced to the scene, forcing the attackers to flee into the surrounding terrain and abandon their captives.
The rescued victims were subsequently secured by the troops.
The statement noted that security forces have intensified patrols and offensive operations across the area in a bid to deny criminal elements freedom of movement and prevent further attacks.
The renewed operations are also aimed at strengthening security and protecting residents and other road users in the affected communities.
