Badly Battered 11-Year Old Maid Now Stable, Suspect in Custody – Anambra First Lady

Maid Abuse

The 11-year-old maid who was battered brutally by an Anambra-based lawyer, Adachukwu Okafor, is now in stable condition.

A visit to the facility where she was being treated revealed that the 11-year-old girl, who could hardly walk when she was recovered, has almost fully recovered from the physical injuries.

She was also able to walk around and receive sympathizers who came to show her law.

Maid Anambra Battered

Recall that a viral amateur video of the victim, who appeared with gory iron-stamp burns all over her body, had trended earlier this year, attracting public outrage.

The child maid was said to have been allegedly inflicted with the injuries by her guardian, Mrs Adachukwu Okafor.

The alleged culprit was said to be living with the maid at her Akpaka, 33 G.R.A, Onitsha residence, and got enraged when the maid, who was bathing her child, mistakenly touched his private part.

It was then that Mrs. Okafor said to be a legal practitioner and a pastor in a local church, used everything within her reach, including a charged laundry iron, to feast on the maid, cutting deep into her private part.

Meanwhile, the suspect is now in police custody, after she was said to have turned herself in, following a series of bounties placed on her head by both the Federal and the Anambra State Governments.

Reacting to the development, the wife of Anambra State Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo, said she is keeping close tabs on the case.

Confirming the arrest of the suspect, Mrs. Adachukwu Okafor, Mrs. Soludo assured that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring that full justice is served.

While promising to ensure that the case is used as a deterrent to those who have no regard for human dignity and rights, the governor’s wife maintained that anyone who violates the rights of another will be made to face the law.

“The suspect has already been charged to court and I will personally track of the proceedings, including updates on court dates, decisions, and judgment.

“It is very cheering news that the child maid who was rushed to the hospital after she was inflicted severe injuries by the said guardian is now in a stable condition.

“The state government is now taking full care of her recovery.

“As a government, we are committed to fighting all forms of abuses on women and children in Anambra State, and will by our disposition, ensure that the state remains a red zone for abusers and traffickers alike,” Mrs Soludo assured.
