ATBU Blasts Outlandish Ramadan Memo as Pure Fiction

The management of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, has slammed a viral memo circulating on social media as a “crude fabrication,” rejecting claims that male and female students must avoid public interactions during Ramadan.

The memo, supposedly signed by Dr Aisha Rahman, Director of Academics, threatened that offenders would be forced into marriage and made to foot the bill for their wedding reception. But according to Zailani Bappa, Director of Information and Public Relations, the document is nothing more than “fake and ridiculous.”

In a scathing statement on Friday, Bappa tore the memo apart: “The document was poorly crafted and falsely attributed to ATBU. The so-called Director of Academics does not exist in our administrative structure, and no such staff member is employed by the university.”

He further lampooned the memo’s content, saying, “It alleged that students standing together in public during Ramadan would be compelled to marry and finance their own receptions. The claims are entirely false, baseless, and absurd.”

Bappa urged students, staff, and the public to treat the memo as a work of fiction and to rely solely on official university communication channels for accurate information. “Do not be misled by this nonsense,” he warned.
