As Gunmen Murder Two Policemen in Anambra, JSF Initiates Manhunt for Perpetrators (Video)

Gunmen, in the early hours of Thursday, attacked a police team at Nnewi in Nnewi North Council Area of Anambra State, killing two operatives.

The attack by the hoodlums, who were said to have come in their numbers, happened at Akabu-Ukwu, Uruagu Nnewi, a source said.

A trending video on social media showed the dead bodies of the two policemen in the pool of their blood.

Also shown in the video was the burning vehicle of the policemen set ablaze by the gunmen.

Meanwhile, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the incident in a statement this afternoon.

According to Ikenga, the Joint Security Force in the state has begun a manhunt in search of the armed men who murdered the two police operatives.

He said the policemen were on investigation activities at Uruagu, Nnewi.

The statement read, “Preliminary information reveals that the armed men started shooting sporadically on sighting the police Operatives and threw an Improvised explosive into their operational vehicle.

“Unfortunately, two of the Operatives paid the supreme price while the vehicle caught fire.”

Ikenga said the command has called on members of the Public, especially the eyewitnesses, to aid the ongoing Police operations in the area.

“You can call the Command Control Room at 07039194332 or the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) at 08039334002 for any necessary assistance and be assured the utmost confidentiality in this regard,” he said.
