Arsenal FC knocked out UEFA Champions League holders Real Madrid after surpassing Los Blancos with a 5–1 aggregate score to reach their first semi-final since 2006.
The Italian champions also advanced following a 4–3 aggregate victory against German outfit Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.
Surprisingly, Arsenal defeated Real Madrid in front of their fans at the Santiago Bernabéu with a 2–1 scoreline. Although Bukayo Saka, who later found the back of the net in the 65th minute, had missed an early chance to put the Gunners ahead in the first half.
Just two minutes later, Vinícius Júnior scored as Madrid pushed for an equalizer, but the game was officially over when Gabriel Martinelli chipped in a late winner for the London side. Arsenal had previously beaten their Spanish counterparts 3–0 in England and have now advanced to the semi-finals to face French champions PSG.
Another match in focus was the game between Inter and Bayern Munich. Bayern were stunned by a resilient Inter side, who reached the semi-finals for the first time since their defeat to Manchester City in 2022. The second leg ended in a 2–2 draw.
Inter captain Lautaro Martínez and Benjamin Pavard scored for Inter, while Harry Kane and Eric Dier were on the scoresheet for Bayern. Inter had edged Bayern with a 2–1 away win in the first leg and advanced with a 4–3 aggregate score. Inter will face a stringent test as they are set to play Barcelona in the semi-finals.
