Arrested Kidnappers Reveal New Trick Used In Luring Victims

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested suspected kidnappers who revealed that they use photos of beautiful women on Facebook to guile their victims. 


Commissioner of Police in the state, Aderemi Adeoye made this known during a press conference in Awka on Monday, January. 8 2024. 

Adeoye stated that personnel of the command arrested about 30 suspected criminals between December 1, 2023 and now. 

The commissioner, disclosed that 12 suspects were arrested for kidnapping, 9 for alleged armed robbery, 6 for cultism and 3 over alleged insurgency across the state adding that 11 vehicles, 12 firearms and 40 ammunition were also recovered from the suspects within the said period. 

However, Adeoye said, two police operatives from the Enugu state police command lost their lives to an attack by a gang of assailants at Uga Roundabout in Aguata Local Government area of the state. 

He maintained that the police operatives traced the culprits to their camp in Ogboji forest where two of the criminals were shot. 

While stating that the police also apprehended one Emmanuel Orjiakor from Oba, a notorious armed robber and kidnapper, who sustained gunshot injuries in an encounter with operatives of the Anambra Vigilante Group, the police commissioner equally added that one Obinna Ekwunife, 27, was arrested on Dec. 1, in relation to the kidnap of one Emmanuel Tobechukwu, who transferred N9 million to a POS operator as ransom. 

He maintained further; “Upon interrogation, they confessed to be involved in the kidnap of one Obioma Godswill from Delta. They further stated that they normally lured their victims using Facebook accounts with pictures of beautiful ladies, to their hideout, where they keep them and collect ransom before they are released”.
