The Nigerian Army deployed for counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency efforts in Taraba and Benue States has achieved significant progress in disrupting terrorist activities.
These operations resulted in the arrest of a gun runner, thwarting a kidnap attempt, and eliminating a terrorist threat.
Troops, in collaboration with local vigilantes, acted on credible intelligence to apprehend Mansir Mohammed at Jalingo Motor Park. Mohammed was reportedly involved in smuggling firearms to terrorists.
His arrest led to the apprehension of other members of his syndicate and the recovery of various items, including firearms, a vehicle, mobile phones, and cash.
In a separate operation, troops on routine patrol in Miyande Village, Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, intercepted two terrorist suspects who were concealing an automatic rifle underneath a motorcycle seat. The vigilant troops recovered the weapon along with ammunition and the motorcycle.
Furthermore, troops responded to a distress call in Zaki-Biam Town, Benue State, and successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt.
During the intervention, one kidnapper was neutralized in a shootout, and a pistol with ammunition was recovered.
These successful operations demonstrate the Nigerian Army’s steadfast commitment to combating terrorism and insurgency, ensuring the security of the nation. The public must continue supporting troops as they carry out these operations.
“We urge members of the public to continue to support our troops as they conduct their operations.” Says Nigerian Army.
