Apple Approves Spotify Pricing Display on iOS for EU Users

Apple has approved Spotify’s request to show pricing details in its iOS app for users in the European Union.
This decision follows new rules under the EU’s Digital Markets Act and updated antitrust guidelines for music streaming apps.
Previously, Apple was fined €1.84 billion by European regulators for breaking antitrust laws.
With this new approval, Spotify can now display prices for subscriptions, audiobooks, and other digital goods.
However, it cannot include links to its website to avoid a 27% commission fee.
Spotify plans to offer a promotion in the EU, allowing users to try its service for free for the first three months before paying for a subscription.
The company hoped to eventually link directly to its website from the iOS app to avoid commission fees, reflecting ongoing challenges with Apple’s App Store rules.
