Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has issued a fiery warning to politicians he accused of backing “betrayers,” declaring that such figures will suffer betrayal in their personal and political lives and ultimately face death as a consequence of their actions.
Wike, who is locked in a bitter political feud with his former ally and incumbent Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, made the remarks on Thursday, February 6, while addressing supporters at a public event in Rivers State.
In a blistering speech, the former governor said betrayal is a seed that inevitably produces consequences.
“Whether you are a senator, a House of Representatives member, a minister or a governor, once you support betrayers, betrayal will follow you for life,” Wike said.
“The day will come when you will have no mouth to speak, you will collapse, and they will announce that such a person has died because that is the seed you planted.”
Wike also warned second-term governors plotting to install successors while allegedly backing betrayal, insisting they would not survive the political fallout.
“Any governor in his second term who supports betrayal and wants to impose a successor, you will never survive it. Betrayal will follow you immediately your successor is sworn in,” he said.
“My own took months. Yours will start from day one. That is what the gods of the land told me to tell you.”
The comments come amid escalating tensions in Rivers State politics, with Wike and Fubara at the centre of a deepening power struggle that has fractured the state’s political structure.
