Anambra Monarch Denies Family Rape and Sodomy Allegations at Ukwulu

The Anambra State Government and the traditional ruler of the Ukwulu Community in Dunukofia Council Area of the State, Igwe Peter Uyanwa have come out to debunk the viral open letter by a yet-to-be-identified woman, alleging that herdsmen raped her and her maid as well as sodomized her husband at the Ukwulu forest.

In the open letter addressed to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, the narrator, who claimed to be from the Ukwulu community but is married to a Nawgu man, narrated the horrible ordeal that she, alongside her husband and maid allegedly suffered in the hands of herdsmen in the community.

But the state government in a statement on Tuesday through the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Christian Aburime, said the trending story was found to be another concocted narrative, void of credibility and substance and mischievously circulated to paint a scenario of insecurity within the state.

Aburime said in recent times, the state government has observed that certain individuals, motivated by political agenda, have persisted in spreading false and baseless stories in an attempt to undermine the peace and security enjoyed by residents of the state.

The statement read; “The Anambra State Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, has confirmed that no such incident of abduction and rape has been reported or verified.

“Anambra State, under the vigilant leadership of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all Anambra residents and visitors alike.

“The Governor urges the public to disregard the rampant fake news and baseless allegations by remaining vigilant against attempts to sow fear of insecurity within the state.

“The government also encourages the public to rely on verified sources of information and refrain from spreading unverified claims that may destabilize our society.

“To report security-related matters and convey security information at any time, the public is encouraged to reach security agencies in the state through any of the following lines: 07039194332, 08039334002, and 07039896429.”

Meanwhile, when contacted by a TNC correspondent, the Ukwulu traditional ruler, Igwe Uyanwa maintained that the report was a fabricated lie from the pit of hell, and said he was willing to bet his life on it.

He challenged the author to be bold enough to reveal her identity or reach out to any law enforcement agency in the state and officially lodge her complaints if she claims she is telling the truth, rather than using social media to peddle lies and fake news with the name of the community.

“To further prove the story wrong, the narrator’s claim of being a native Ukwulu but married to Nawgu is another crystal lie from the pit of hell.

“People from Ukwulu and Nawgu communities have not engaged in marriage with each other for the past sixty years (due to inter-community issues existing between the two towns), until the last three years when it was heard that someone from Ukwulu got married to someone from Nawgu.

“I wonder why the said victim did not reach out to any of the leaderships of the two communities to report the said attack and ordeal but quickly rushed to the social media to trend it.

“It begs the question- what do they intend to achieve?

“So, you see, something like that never happened anywhere in Ukwulu, and it is fake news. Quote me anywhere. That thing is pure fake news,” the monarch concluded.
