The Anambra State Football Association Chairman, Chikelue Iloenyosi has condemned in strongest words, the recent attack on a contingent from Sunshine Stars in Anambra State, by suspected bandits.

It was gathered that the ugly situation happened to the Sunshine Stars contingent on their way to honor a league game against Bendel Insurance of Benin.

The players and management were said to have been brutally attacked and their valuables stolen.

Also, the Ball boy of the team was allegedly shot and has since been recuperating in an undisclosed hospital.

Recall that a similar incident had happened earlier last week, the contingent of FC One Rocket of Uyo was robbed at the Ihiala axis on their way to Uyo after honoring a league game last Sunday against Ikorodu City of Lagos.

According to Iloenyosi, both incidents, which he described as highly condemnable, do not support efforts at promoting sports in the state, which the government and the FA are making.

He called on the Police authorities to bring the perpetrators of the criminal acts to book.

“When I heard both disturbing news, I was really concerned.

“For players that are dedicated and going about their activities to experience such, I can’t imagine the trauma they are going through.

“I pray for quickly recovery of the ball boy that was shot and others who were injured.

“I have already reached out to the Police Commissioner in my state, asking him to bring these criminals to book.

“I also condole with my counterparts, the FA Chairmen, in Ondo and Akwa Ibom state. May we not experience such again.”

Sunshine Stars of Akure played Bendel Insurance of Benin on Sunday while FC One Rocket who were drawn by this weekend in the NNL conference B league, are already in Uyo.
