27 lawmakers of the Rivers State House of Assembly have decamped from the opposing People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
This is coming on the heels of the swollen political tension rocking the Rivers State party politics.
The Rivers state political crisis came into public domain following the burning of the Rivers State Assembly Complex on 29th October 2023.
Reacting to the incident, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, accused Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, of masterminding the burning of a part of the State House Assembly complex.
This tussle among members of the State House of Assembly resulted to some lawmakers commencing impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara. This development was, however, tamed by the intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
