Anambra DPO, DSP Get Query, Inspector Faces Disciplinary Proceedings Over Missing Robbery Suspect

—

The Anambra State Police Command has ordered the issuance of queries to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of 3-3 Police Station and a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) over allegations surrounding the whereabouts of an armed robbery suspect reportedly arrested and brought to the station.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, also directed the immediate commencement of disciplinary proceedings against an Inspector of Police in connection with the matter.

The directives followed the Commissioner’s personal interview with the complainant and officers involved on October 5, 2026, after a viral video alleged that the arrested suspect could not be accounted for at the station.

CP Nnanna described the allegation as serious, stressing that the Command would not tolerate unprofessional conduct, dereliction of duty, abuse of office or breaches of established procedures.

He directed the Command’s X-Squad to conduct a thorough investigation into the arrest, detention, documentation and subsequent whereabouts of the suspect, including the roles played by the officers involved.

The Commissioner disclosed that operational measures had been put in place to facilitate the arrest of the suspect and assured the public that the outcome of the investigation would be communicated once established.

He, however, cautioned members of the public against circulating unverified information capable of prejudicing the ongoing investigation, stressing the need for facts to be established through due process.

CP Nnanna reiterated that accountability remained a core component of his leadership and that no police officer was above scrutiny or the established disciplinary process.
