Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, of Ondo state would be embarking on another medical trip in Germany.
This is coming barely four months after the governor returned to Nigeria and has reportedly been staying in his private residence in Ibadan Oyo State.
According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, on Tuesday, 12th December 2023, the governor’s return to the European country was to follow-up on his medical treatment.
Olatunde added that the governor would be leaving on Wednesday, and that a letter directed to the state House of Assembly to, in line with constitutional provision, allow for the deputy governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to assume office as the acting governor.
The statement reads in part; “During his medical leave, Governor Akeredolu will prioritize his health and ensure a full recovery before resuming his official duties”.
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu expressed his appreciation for the unwavering support and love of the people of Ondo State. He assured of his administration’s resolve to remain committed to the path of progress and prosperity of the people of the state.
It would be recalled that Governor Akeredolu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, has consistently delegated power to his deputy during his annual vacations. A practice that was observed on April 1, 2021, April 1, 2022, April 3, 2023, and July 10, 2023, when he embarked on vacations previously.
