Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has dramatically resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declaring that the next couple of days will define the future of this nation as she aligns with the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) under the leadership of Peter Obi.
In a statement on her X account, Yesufu said her move was driven by a deeper understanding of Nigeria’s political moment, describing Obi as the figure who embodies the hope and aspiration of a Nigeria that works.
“I gave my word, and I keep it,” she stated, explaining that her earlier support for Obi led her to the ADC, but maintaining that joining the NDC is the next step in honouring that commitment.
Escalating the stakes, Yesufu also announced her intention to contest the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Senatorial seat under the NDC platform, signalling a bold entry into elective politics.
She added that she had formally concluded all responsibilities within the ADC, ensuring what she described as a clean transition, while expressing gratitude to party members.
“I was fortunate to work with great and amazing people whose goal was a better country,” she said, citing her roles across multiple committees as part of her contribution.
Yesufu concluded by thanking colleagues and supporters, noting that the experience gained in the ADC would remain invaluable as she embarks on her next political chapter.
