Airtel Africa Gets New CEO As Ogunsanya Retires

Olusegun Ogunsanya, the current CEO of Airtel Africa plc, is set to retire effective from July 1, 2024.

Sunil Taldar, presently serving as the director of transformation at Airtel Africa, will step into Ogunsanya’s shoes as the new CEO.

The transition process will begin soon, allowing Taldar to work alongside Ogunsanya, culminating in his official assumption of the CEO role on July 1, 2024.

Upon Taldar’s assumption of the CEO position, Ogunsanya will gracefully step down from the board and retire from the company.

Acknowledging Ogunsanya’s significant contributions, Airtel Africa’s Chairman, Sunil Bharti Mittal, announced Ogunsanya’s new role as the chair of the Airtel Africa Charitable Foundation post-retirement.

Expressing confidence in Taldar’s capabilities, Mittal praised Taldar’s extensive industry experience, strategic acumen, customer-centric approach, and demonstrated track record of successful deliveries.

Meanwhile, Ogunsanya expressed gratitude for his tenure at Airtel Africa and emphasized his commitment to leveraging digital and financial inclusion for African empowerment beyond the confines of the corporate sector.
