Air Raid Cripples Terror Base in Katsina

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has launched a targeted aerial assault on a terrorist stronghold in Katsina State, wiping out a major hideout and eliminating several insurgents.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.

According to the statement obtained by The News Chronicle, Ejodame explained that the strike, executed on May 1 under the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma, focused on a site located within the Dan-Aji Forest in Faskari Local Government Area.

He noted that the location served as a strategic logistics base associated with a notorious terrorist leader, Abasu Aiki, and his fighters active across the Faskari, Kankara, and Funtua corridor.

According to him, fresh intelligence pointing to increased terrorist movements in the area prompted the operation.

“NAF air assets identified armed terrorists on motorcycles alongside other fighters within the enclave and executed a coordinated strike on the location.

“Battle damage assessment confirmed that several terrorists were neutralised, while the logistics hub and associated structures were destroyed,” he said.

Ejodame further revealed that the bombardment sparked multiple explosions and extensive fires, severely weakening the group’s operational strength.

He added that the offensive had effectively curtailed the movement and supply chains of the terrorists within the axis.

According to him, the development underscores the NAF’s commitment to denying terrorists safe havens and dismantling their operational networks.
