Ahmed Musa commends the progress of NPFL, urges increased private investment

In an exciting Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday 16 showdown between Kano Pillars and Kwara United at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Ahmed Musa, the captain of the Super Eagles, shared his joy about the vibrant atmosphere and praised the recent progress in the league.

During a halftime interview with league broadcasters, Musa commended the league’s governing body for improving coverage but stressed the importance of ongoing enhancements.

“We need more development in coverage to take our league to greater heights,” he said, emphasizing the need to boost visibility and exposure for Nigerian football at home.

Watching the intense battle between Kano Pillars and Kwara United, Musa gave credit to the latter for their impressive performance, recognizing the competitiveness of the game and expressing optimism for the continued growth of the league.

Discussing the league’s evolution, Musa advocated for increased involvement from the private sector, emphasizing that private investment is crucial for the league’s development.

“The government alone cannot consistently support the league, and we need more private sector investment,” he stated, highlighting the necessity of diversifying funding sources for the sport’s expansion.

The seasoned footballer also took notice of emerging talents like Yusuf Abdullahi, who scored five goals for Kano Pillars.

Drawing parallels between his own beginnings and the promising future he sees for Nigerian football, Musa remarked, “I started just like him during my time here at Kano Pillars.

I wish him the best of luck; it’s a bright future for Nigeria,” expressing optimism for the budding talent.
