Ahead of Father’s day part10

My Tears For You Holy Spirit!
Jarlath Opara

The song below written by Jenn Johnson is one of the songs that touch me to the depth of my soul. Take time, read through the wordings and the mercy and love of God would become evident.

I love You Lord
Oh, Your mercy never fails me. All my day. I’ve been held in Your hands. From the moment that I wake up. Until I lay my head. I will sing of the goodness of God_

Chorus
All my life You have been faithful. All my life You have been so, so good. With every breath that I am able
I will sing of the goodness of God

I love Your voice
You have led me through the fir. In darkest nights. You are close like no other. I’ve known You as a father. I’ve known You as a friend I have lived in the goodness of God

Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me
Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me
With my life laid down, I’m surrendered now, I give You everything. Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me

Yesterday around 12.45 pm from nowhere this song struck me. The lyrics became my ejaculatory prayers for hours. I couldn’t do anything, more like one caught in the realm where angels sing with their mellifluous voices.

Each stanza of the song reminded me of my past. It hits with the stark reality of God’s mercy and his profound love of one who keeps running away from his presence.

Getting to the chorus of this song. I broke down in tears . It reminded me of my past, and where he has moved me to. It rubbed it on my face, the faithfulness of God, without it I would probably be on the streets, deranged, misbehaving or beneath the earth where my flesh would have tuned into manure.

I guess many fathers would relate with this song, growing up and facing the intrigues of life vicissitudes.

Each of us has a storyline that reminds one of God’ love and faithfulness. It paints the picture of God’s ever ready to offer a helping hand, guiding one, each stage of ones life formation amidst the roaring and prowling of the devil.

Think about ones years in the university, the rascality and delinquencies one got enmeshed in without being consumed. Though the road very slippery and thorny, his mercy and love pulled us through.

Think about the challenges of getting a job, the chances of not getting one till now, but for his loving kindness. He held us by his hands and made provisions and ways in vallies.

Think about the many ladies that passed through our warm embrace. Our body counts which set us against the principles of morals, ethics and values, still his mercy found us and gave us spouses that give us nothing put peace and love.

Think about the ordeal and travails of our spouses at the labour room, which his mercy and love turned into a favour room. Think about the numerous challenges both seen and unseen that he parried for us as if nothing happened.

Think about the plenty temptations that dote our runway, which would have made one fell headlong into the morass of destructive temptation, he rather carried us on his shoulders to a safe harbour.

His goodness keeps running after us , even when the frail and weakness of our human nature keep pushing us away from his presence.

Gather here all fathers who think that the mercy of God has been unfathomable and his love overwhelming in their.

Gather here all fathers, who see no need to continue to live but for God’s grace . Gather here let sing this song.

Your goodness is running after us. It’s running after me. Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me
With my life laid down, I’m surrendered now, I give You everything. Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me

Let surrender to him for his mercy and goodness have been running after us. What would one have become but for the mercy and goodness of God?. We survived through Covid. We scaled the Ebola scare.. Even the Boko Haram insurgency, kindnapping and all forms of security challenges that would have claimed our lives. But here we are! His mercy never fails, even when we deliberately run away from him, his mercy and goodness continue to pursue us, moving us off harm ways.

Fathers! We are humans, we cry too. Our masculinity oftentimes deceive our spouses. We are human and can cry too, this they don’t know and wouldn’t know. They think we are supermen!

Slow down! Take time to take care of yourself. Your safety and health, very paramount. If anything bad happens to you, they(Your Spouses and children) certainly will survive . Check through the lives of those who lost their husbands, who we thought wouldn’t survive the lose. Both the widow and their children are often seen better than when their husbands were alive. Think about this and advice yourself fathers!! Health is wealth and in the lives of your spouses and children, you are not indispensable.

Happy Father’s day in advance.
