AFCON: Shehu Sani Urges Nigerian Women to Save Their Husbands from Death

Shehu Sani lampoons Osinbajo

Shehu Sani, who used to be a lawmaker in Nigeria, gave advice to women in Nigeria. He said that wives should not let their husbands die because of football.

He said this because during the Nigeria vs South Africa soccer match, over four Nigerians passed away.

Some of them died because of hypertension, which is when a person’s blood pressure gets very high. But for others, the reason they died is not known.

The soccer match was very intense, and even though the Super Eagles won, some fans had health problems during the game.

Some of the people who died while watching the match were important people, like Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, who was a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, and a young person doing their national service in Adamawa State named Samuel.

Also, Ayuba Abdullahi, who worked at a university, and Mikail Osundiji from Abeokuta, Ogun State, passed away.

Shehu Sani told women to take action if they are worried about their husbands’ health while watching football.

He said they should do things like turning off the electricity or messing with the generator so their husbands can’t watch the match. He said this in a tweet.

“If your husband loves watching Football on live TV and you are doubtful about his health status, just turn off the power meter and switch off and don’t forget to sabotage the generator,” the lawmaker said in a tweet on Friday.

In remembrance of the fans who passed away, the Super Eagles team took a moment of silence before they began their training session on Friday.

This solemn pause allowed the players to pay their respects and reflect on the lives lost. It was a heartfelt gesture by the team to honor those who supported them and to acknowledge the importance of every fan’s contribution to the sport.

This act of reverence demonstrated the team’s compassion and solidarity with the grieving families and the wider community.
